The picture of the actual steps does not show up on the video. No clue why! The verbal steps will help your student be successful. I am not a movie star nor a producer just a 4th grade teacher trying her best to help all students be successful.

tonight your student is going to practice long division for 15 minutes level on division your child with your student will practice tonight is not the Vision that we learned which is called the normal algorithm way we are learning how to do long division by decomposing the number and breaking it into parts to what are relevant to each student so first of all let me show you what we did in class today and will expect your student to practice tonight for 15 minutes so let's start with on 484 / for this is called your dividend this is your divisor and we're looking for the quotient now that we know what division we're taking a total and we're turn it into groups and the same amount is going to go into each of those groups that is known as your quotient so let's started first off I expect for your student to draw for group  this is representing the divisor okay now we're going to take this dividend and we're going to say how much of it can we put in each group with the same amount going in each group because it's a hundred number I'm going to go ahead and start with 100 so 100 200 300 400 K and it will work find a place 100 into each of these groups  now you say that I put a total of 400 so I'm going to try 400 + 484 which is going to tell me what I have left to put into each group in case now I know it's not to Hendricks again because my number is a little bit smaller so the students who want to go automatically to 10 I asked them to try 25 which Winnie's first so 25 50 75 100 will not work so let's go to 20 20 40 60 perfect and from 84 we're going to put twins in each group what we have done is we a place at in speech the total of 80 into the four groups that and now we know that we can place one miss you each of the great and that leaves this zerex which is the answer to the division problem it's decomposed number I'm putting it together the 100 + 20 + 1 the quotient is 120 once to work on his division problems tonight at just 15 minutes I don't expect mastering I will grieve a quick check at the end of the week to see how things progressing  who left the iPad or your iPhone or whatever what help your child get a little extra help this Thursday's wonderful app and it is called dare2share Ferry and it is amazing and what does is it takes a division problem and it's using base ten block in Little Owl then to take the base ten blocks in to put them in groups so recommend look at it one more time you're a student to practice with this component at her thank you so much
