Read the problem like you were reading your AR book.  You should be able to tell who is in the story, what they are doing in the story, what numbers they are using to do whatever in the story, determine you operation addition, subtraction, multiplication or division, you may need a picture to help, line the decimals up, and locate your answer.

If you get confused draw a place value pictures, the ones  I drew on the board in class today.
