Incoming 7th and 8th Grade GT

Please try to attend the informative GT meeting for 2018-2019 7th and 8th grade students. Henderson Jr. High Cafeteria- May 15th @6:00. Mrs. Ward and the GT teachers will be going over the GT class that is offered and will be able to answer any questions.

Tour Tarleton Hydroponics

Please return permission forms to attend the Tarleton Hydroponic Farm.
Monday- 3rd and 4th Grade 8:30-9:30
Tuesday- 5th and 6th Grade 1:00-2:00

The Hydroponic Lesson is well underway for our 3rd- 6th grades. The students have learned about Hydroponics, Aeroponics, and Aquaponics. They are planning on how they will grow their project in our classroom. We will see who will be successful within the next few weeks. We will also get a wonderful opportunity to get a tour from Dr. Cummings at the Tarleton Hydrotron next week. Details coming soon!

1st- 3rd Grade Field Trip

If you a planning to attend the field trip with your student, please send me an email by Friday, April 20th. We have to stay compliant with the group max. You will also be responsible for sending $9.50 for your admission fee to school with your student. I have to pre-pay for our tickets. Thank you!

1st- 3rd Grade Field Trip

The First through Third grade GT students are planning a field trip to MainStay Farms in Cleburne on Friday, April 27th. We will be leaving school no later than 8:15 and we are planning to return to school around 2:30. Please make sure your child arrives at school on time that day. Please fill out the bottom portion of this form and return it to school by Friday, April 20th. Your child will need a sack lunch for the trip. We are talking about soilless farming education in GT and we will be comparing and contrasting soilless farming with the soil farming we observe at MainStay Farms. We will also get to let loose and have a little fun with all of the activities they offer. Please see attached permission slip. The slip was sent home yesterday.

Perot Museum Parent Information

Students will be dropped off at the Field Street bus ramp. Chaperones will meet the class at the base of the Musical Stairs on the lower level of the Museum.
You may purchase tickets at the Box Office on the field trip day and we will receive the school group rate of $6. No additional discounts will be applied to this ticket.
* Due to space limitations, extra chaperones will not be able to attend classroom programs or lab programs.
You will want to park in Lot B. Lot A is Special Permit accessible and Lot C is Bus/Overflow parking.

We will depart from Gilbert Intermediate at 7:15. I will be there by 7:00am. We will return to your regular campus by dismissal time. Do not forget your lunch. If you signed up for one from the school, we will have it.  If you have any questions or concerns please email me emily.coffee@sville.us. I will have a sign out sheet for students who return home with parents. Please wear a navy shirt if you have one.

4th-6th Grade GT Field Trip

Wednesday, March 28th

Please meet the buses at Gilbert Intermediate 950 N. Dale at 7:15 am. If you have a conflict with your child being dropped off at Gilbert Intermediate, please let me know.  We will return to school by the regular dismissal time. Hook students will be dropped at Hook when we return. Your child will need to bring a sack lunch or sign up for a school provided lunch.

You are more than welcome to meet us at the museum and I will have a sign out sheet if you and your child would like to stay longer and explore. I have attached the link that provides pricing and parking information if you choose to join us.

Gilbert News

Many 6th graders are at Camp Grady Spruce learning outdoors. Tuesday 5th grade had a paper chain challenge. They worked in teams of 4. They will complete the STEM CHALLENGE on Thursday with follow up questions. Be sure to ask your student their strategy to get the longest chain.

Hook Parents

Today we worked on properly introducing ourselves and interviewing Staff members for our Hook News. Please ask your child to show you what they learned. We will be using the green screen to film our News Production on Monday.
