We have been talking about compound sentences and how they are very similar to compound words. Just like compound words are made by joining two words together, compound sentences are two sentences joined together with a comma and a conjunction (aka FANBOYS). FANBOYS is an acronym for the conjunctions- for, and, nor, but, or yet, so.
I do not like anchovies. I do not like Canadian bacon. (totally made up-not picky about my pizza toppings) = I do not like anchovies, not do I like Canadian bacon.
***When you use nor and or, you have to switch the second sentence around a little to make it work.***
We have even compared compound sentences to a peanut butter jelly sandwich because my students know how much I love food.
