A Parent's Look at AR

You may have notice our military inspired AR Wall of Fame across form the library. Each classroom has an assigned color; each student earns a "medal" in the form of a star and will climb the ranks in AR. A student moves his/her medal according to the number of points earned in AR. The Wall of Fame gives instant positive recognition for students and focuses on the importance of reading at Hook.
It isn't all about getting the most points!
Confused about certifications? You wouldn't be the first! The AR certification process is a lot to take in.Think about certification in terms of climbing steps to get to the top of your reading potential. Certifications reflect student reading growth and development. Because certification focuses on stages of reading development, certifications are completed in order. Each step shows a student has become a better and more advanced reader. To read more about certification, see the AR Certifications and Awards page.
Each six weeks parents are invited to attend an Awards Assembly in the auditorium. Check the calendar for specific dates and times. Come and celebrate AR accomplishments with our Hook students. Students' names will called out for reaching certification levels of Ready Reader and up. Special recognition will be given for Principal's Award and Discovery Award. See you there!
